Day of Consecrated Life
Pilgrims of hope towards the Jubilee of Consecrated Life 2025. We grow as a sign of reconciliation among men and in Creation
The celebration of the XXVIII Day of Consecrated Life this year is characterised as a stage in the journey of preparation for the Jubilee of Consecrated Life to be celebrated on 8-12 October 2025. Let us make our own the wish of Pope Francis shared with Archbishop Rino Fisichella – pro-prefect of the Dicastery of Evangelisation – in his letter of February 2022 in which he asked us to “find suitable forms so that the Holy Year may be prepared and celebrated with intense faith, living hope and active charity. We must keep alight the torch of hope that has been given to us, and do everything possible so that everyone regains the strength and certainty to look to the future with an open mind, a trusting heart and a far-sighted mind”.

The Dicastery for Consecrated Life has devised a step-by-step path for all religious men and women, starting in 2023. In this journey we are all invited to be agents of reconciliation in the current world context – marked by painful lacerations and divisions – and to get involved:
- in listening to the cry of the poor,
- for the care of Creation,
- in a spirit of solidarity with their sisters and brothers.
RECONCILIATION, JUSTICE AND PEACE ARE FUNDAMENTAL VALUES OF THE SPIRITUAL HERITAGE TRANSMITTED BY OUR FOUNDERS TO RESPOND WITH MISERICORDY AND LONG-TERM RESPONSE TO THE “CALLS OF OUR WEAK WORLD” … AS “WEAK HEALERS” CALLED TO MAKE WEALTH A STRENGTH (2Cor 12-10).
“At a time when Consecrated Life is seeing a reduction in the number of vocations, the redesigning of presences, the closure of many houses…setting out on pilgrimage with the theological virtue of hope is the only way to allow the Lord to work and save us even in this situation and to find the peace to bring it to the world,” say the promoters of the initiatives of the Roman stage planned from 1 to 4 February, including, first and foremost, the Vatican Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life. In Rome, women and men religious from all over the world will be invested with a Mandate: Signs of reconciliation among men.
