Mourning for Afghan women increasingly victims of patriarchy and Taliban radical Islamism

The Taliban dealt another blow to the freedom and human rights of women and girls, In fact, the Taliban had promised that they would respect the rights of Afghan women by taking Islamic sharia into account. The fact is that the Taliban’s interpretation of Sharia is so fundamentalist and arbitrary that it is repugnant to the majority of Muslims around the world.

Three years after the flight of the Americans from Kabul and the Taliban’s return to power, in between one crisis and another, between wars and sham election campaigns, «Afghanistan’s de facto government has turned into law many of the restrictions it had already been enforcing for three years, addressing issues such as the full veil or hijab for women and the clothing of men, who are required to grow beards.
