4 and 5 June: two World Days tell us that for Children and the Environment violence comes from humanity
The International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression (4 June) and World Environment Day (5 June), the theme of which is land restoration, desertification and drought resilience, leave no doubt: it won’t take an asteroid as in the case of the extinction of the dinosaurs to stop the violence with life.

As of 2022, UNICEF has stated that ‘99 per cent of the world’s child population has already been exposed to at least one climate or environmental shock and about 1 billion children – almost half of the world’s 2.2 billion children – live in one of 33 countries classified as being at “extremely high risk” for the consequences of climate change.’ (Source: www.repubblica.it).

May 2024 was the hottest of all May months since climate measurements have existed, i.e. since 1850. The planet’s temperature was 1.52 degrees higher than in pre-industrial times (i.e. the average of the years between 1850 and 1900). Hence the UN warning on World Environment Day.

May’s record surprised no one: the same record has been broken for 12 months in a row. In the last year lived torridly the excess temperature reached a total of 1.63 degrees. Almost half of this heatwave (0.75 degrees) has accumulated over the last 30 years.

BUT THE ECONOMY IS NO LONGER THE ULTIMATE DECISION MAKER
BECAUSE IN TURN THE ECONOMY LOOKS TO TECHNOLOGICAL RESOURCES TO INVEST: IT INVESTS BY LOOKING TO TECHNOLOGY. BUT TECHNOLOGY HAS NO PURPOSE ONLY IN VIEW OF ITS SELF-EMPOWERMENT: WHAT IT DETERMINES IS NOT THE GROWTH OF MANKIND BUT SIMPLY THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE MEANS TO LIVE… FOR STERILE LIVING
