International Earth Day. “Planet vs. plastic”:

continuing like this in 2050 there will be more plastic in the sea than fish

The main goal of the 54th Earth Day, Earth Day 2024, is clear and concise, and is well expressed by the slogan “60×40”: to achieve a 60% reduction in plastic production by 2040. Only in this way will a plastic-free future be possible for the next generations.

It has been more than half a century since the first Earth Day celebration and almost two decades since the birth of Earth Day Italy.

Over time the event has undergone profound changes. From being a simple concert, it has transformed into a multi-day event with numerous initiatives, and the original focus on soil conditions has been integrated with that of marine ecosystem pollution that has now become a global emergency.

The appointment aims to call on everyone-governments, businesses, citizens-to invest in our Planet and future generations by ending plastics for the sake of human and planetary health and calling for a 60 percent reduction in the production of all plastics by 2040.

Act now to protect our health, our families and the environment.

Innovate now to try to turn the tide on Planet pollution and climate change.

Build a greener and more equitable future now. Everyone is called upon to do his or her part.

Every minute,” GreenPeace reports, “the equivalent of a truckload of plastic ends up in the oceans, causing the death of turtles, birds, fish, whales, and dolphins, all the way to our plates! (link to: https://www.greenpeace.org/italy/attivati/piu-mare-meno-plastica/).

POLLUTION OF THE SEAS IS NOT A FATALITY: LET’S COUNTER IT
THE SEA IS NOT A DUMPING GROUND:
ITS HEALTH STRENGTHENS THE HEALTH OF THE EARTH BY PREVENTING…

…single-use plastics floating as far as the eye can see and settling on the seabed, along with invisible microplastics contained in detergents, cosmetics, paints have invaded the marine environment and contaminated every corner of the Earth.
