The apostolic community of Genoa was taken over by the sisters of Reggio Emilia, but the Charism is well established!

In the touching testimony of the educational team, committed to the continuity of the mission promoted by the Sisters, one senses a deep gratitude for the years of journeying together and for the future that opens up in the new Region of Southern Europe

A LONG JOURNEY OF PARTNERSHIP IN THE MISSION WAS MADE IN GENOA

Here is how the education team shares the emotional moment of greetings to the apostolic community

«After a long presence in Liguria, on 21 October 2023 the small community of sisters from Genoa moved to the house in Reggio Emilia.

The preceding months were a succession of preparations that involved everyone a little, and which diverted our thoughts from a necessary but no less painful separation.

In the first days of October, the visit of Sister Fatima, newly elected Regional Superior, certainly helped to strengthen the union between sisters and lay people called to carry out the mission. A few days later, the community also had the joy of receiving the visit of the Bishop of Genoa, Marco Tasca.

A very intense moment took place on 17 October.  The friends, volunteers, educators, and girls gathered around Sister Elisabetta, Sister Teresina (and ideally Sister Regina and Sister Anna, already transferred to Reggio) in a Mass presided over by Don Fully, a precious friend of the ‘Good Shepherd’, always present at the most important moments.

Everything took place in an atmosphere of simplicity and in keeping with the request of the diocese, which had called for a day of reflection and prayer for peace on that day.

Deep gratitude was expressed from many voices for this long journey.  A journey made of friendship, collaboration, sharing of joys and sorrows: the sisters never failed to provide material and especially spiritual support to the girls.

Their daily prayer always accompanied every person who passed through their House: girls, educators, volunteers, university students.

It has been difficult to part from their discreet but constant presence, even though distance does not weaken the bond that has been created over time.

What they have sown over these years is a sprout that each one keeps in his or her heart and will bear fruit in due course».
