World Migrant and Refugee Day

World Migrant and Refugee Day

Can migrating ever become a free choice?

“In order to make migration a truly free choice, we must strive to ensure that everyone has an equal share in the common good, respect for fundamental rights and access to integral human development”. This is what Pope Francis said on the occasion of the 109th World Migrant and Refugee Day.

“Migrating should always be a free choice, but in fact in many cases, even today, it is not. Conflicts, natural disasters, or more simply the impossibility of living a dignified and prosperous life in their homeland force millions of people to leave,” the Holy Father continues in his Message (link: www.vatican.va).

RAMPANT INHUMANITY
CANNOT BELONG TO US
NEITHER YESTERDAY NOR TODAY NOR EVER

“The synodal path that, as a Church, we have embarked on, leads us to see in the most vulnerable people – and among them many migrants and refugees – special travelling companions, to be loved and cared for as brothers and sisters.”

HOW?  POPE FRANCIS REMINDS US:

“All the believers were together and had all things in common; they sold their property and possessions and divided them with everyone, according to each one’s need” (Acts 2:44-45). The ideal of the first Christian community seems so distant from today’s reality!” (from Pope Francis’ Message)

THERE IS A ‘JOURNEY’ OF RADICAL TRANSFORMATION TO BE FACED IN ORDER TO MAKE THE MESSAGE OF THIS DAY OUR OWN

LET’S DO IT TOGETHER
