World Earth Day
Investing in the Planet pays off: sustainability is the only way
“In 2023 we must come together again in partnership for the planet. Business, governments and civil society have an equal responsibility to act against the climate crisis and to ignite the spark to accelerate change towards a green, prosperous and equitable future. We must unite in the fight for the green revolution and the health of future generations. Now is the time to invest in our planet,’ said Kathleen Rogers, President of EARTHDAY.ORG. (EDO) – the global organiser of Earth Day and the largest mobiliser of environmental movements worldwide – when, on 20 October 2022, she announced the theme of Earth Day 2023 – ‘Invest in Our Planet’.

EDO’s call for 2023 aims to involve, in addition to the one billion citizens who take part in Earth Day each year, governments, institutions, businesses, so that everyone plays their part: all responsible, all accountable to the Earth and to future generations. ( Source: www.earthday.org).

On the occasion of this 53rd World Earth Day, personalities from the worlds of culture, science and ecology have signed the appeal ‘Invest in our Planet’… because the future will be green or not at all! A green economy is the only way to give long and healthy life to the Earth and all the creatures it nourishes.
To injure the Earth is to injure yourself, and if others wound the earth, they wound yourself. – Bruce Chatwin

Here too, as in the case of the reception policies for migrants and refugees that have always been at the centre of our concerns, it is a matter of reversing course. We must act now to protect our health, our families and the environment. Everyone is called upon to do their part to build a greener and fairer future now.
