Never before Sunday, 6 February 2021 had it come so far: a television connection with the Holy Father directly from the Vatican, special guest of Fabio Fazio in the programme Che tempo che fa. An hour of conversation in which his words reached believers and non-believers alike; they moved, consoled, cheered, exhorted us to live in a more just and merciful way; they invited us to deal with things we do not want to deal with and do not want to see, in the general indifference.
Particularly strong was the expression CRIMINAL in reference to the way we treat migrants in Europe. Will it have affected everyone’s conscience?
"What is being done with migrants is criminal. There are films about lagers, and I use this word seriously, lagers, in Libya, lagers of traffickers. How much those who want to escape suffer in the hands of the traffickers. If you want to see these films, they are in the Migrants and Refugees section of the Dicastery of Human Development."
