Continued opposition to inhumane migration policies reiterated by the Italian government and Europe
Father Zanotelli and Mimmo Lucano are together again in Riace – as they have done every August for the past few years for initiatives inspired to a welcome which regenerate – and have launched the Born on the Road Committee, which plans solidarity initiatives with migrants in various locations until May 2022.
Among the ongoing initiatives to Riace we remember the FAST of the 4th August last year.
“Fasting of Justice in Solidarity with Migrants”
« Our fast is first and foremost a “cry of protest” against the criminal vote in the House of Parliament to refinance the Libyan Coast Guard guilty of countless crimes of torture and rape against migrants. Today, 4 August, it will pass to the Senate for final approval.
It is a “cry of protest” against the deadly migration policies of the EU’s “externalization of borders” resulting in thousands of deaths in the Mediterranean that has now become the graveyard of “dark faces.” (Fr. Alex Zanotelli, on behalf of Fasting Justice in Solidarity with Migrants.)“
